The Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation (CLDT) of the NewYork-Presbyterian Transplant Institute is a comprehensive program dedicated to treating all forms and stages of liver disease in adults and children. The CLDT offers a seamless integration of services – medical, surgical and radiological services – ranging from ambulatory care to transplantation. The CLDT combines the outstanding liver disease and transplantation programs of two internationally renowned academic medical centers NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Clinical excellence and innovation as well as scientific progress are at the core of the CLDT's mission. Its Vice Chairman and Chief of Transplantation was a pioneer of living donor liver transplantation in pediatric patients, which now also is performed in adults. In fact, the CLDT was one of the first medical institutions in the world to perform adult living donor surgery and currently has one of the largest and most successful living donor programs. Also, the CLDT's surgeons were among the first in the world to perform a partial liver transplantation. Its researchers are leaders in expanding treatments to enhance liver regeneration and therapies to halt the body's rejection of the new organ.
